The invention relates to the use of oil-soluble copolymers that contain A) 5 to 80 mole percent structural units that are derived from olefinically unsaturated compounds with at least one free hydroxyl group, B) 5 to 95 mole percent structural units that are derived from olefinically unsaturated compounds that carry a hydrocarbon residue with at least 6 carbon atoms, and optionally C) 0 to 40 mole percent structural units selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid, acrylates, vinyl esters, vinyl ethane and alkenes, with the proviso that the structural units mentioned in C) are different from the structural units mentioned in A) and B). The inventive copolymers have an average molecular weight of 500 to 100,000 g/mol and an OH number of between 10 and 300 mg KOH/g. The copolymers are used to improve the lubricity and creeping properties of middle distillates with a sulfur content of less than 0.5 weight percent. |
