A gas generator composition which contains a nitrogenous organic compound effective in eliminating the harmfulness problem of conventional metal azide compounds, and which accomplishes the inconsistent subjects of prevention of the generation of harmful gases such as Nox and CO and capture of slug and further eliminates problems of conventional autoignition mechanisms. The composition comprises a fuel ingredient, an oxidizing agent, and a catalyst ingredient as major ingredients, wherein the fuel ingredient is 20 to 45 wt.% aminotetrazole, the oxidizing agent is contained in an amount of 50 to 75 wt.%, and the catalyst ingredient is 0.05 to 5 wt.% molybdenum trioxide, serving to impart autoignitability. The oxidizing agent comprises strontium nitrate and the nitrate or perchlorate of either an alkali metal or barium and has a strontium nitrate content of 75 to 95 wt.%. |
