abstract A hydroxyl containing porous material which has covalently bonded to it (1) a first silane compound having a chain length in the range of C6-C2, (2) a second silane compound having a chain length in the range of C2-C5, and (3) a third silane compound having a chain length in the range of C1. The silanes are bonded to the material in a sequence inverse to the number of carbon atoms the alkyl chain of the silane.
