An SOD-like composition containing rice bran, a fermented soybean extract and a coffee bean extract. A test group 1 was fed ad libitum with a feed containing this SOD-like composition and then the serum SOD activity, lipid peroxide level and blood pressure were measured. As a result, the test group 1 showed a significantly high blood SOD activity and a significant decrease in the lipid peroxide level, compared with the control group 1 having no SOD-composition and the control group 2 having rice bran and the fermented soybean extract. It was also found out that the test group 1 showed a regulated increase in blood-pressure owing to the intake of the SOD-like composition, compared with the control groups 1 and 2. These results indicate that the SOD-composition can exhibit an elevated SOD activity, a regulated lipid peroxide level and a regulated blood-pressure increase owing to the synergistic effects of the rice bran, a fermented soybean extract and a coffee bean extract. |
