titleOfInvention | De-staining composition and apparatus |
abstract | A de-staining composition for de-staining a stained substrate, such as an electrophoresis gel, comprises an absorbent for the stain incorporated in a semi-solid matrix such as an agar gel. The de-staining composition can be incorporated in a de-staining apparatus (10) for de-staining the stained substrate (18). The apparatus (10) comprises a receptacle (11) containing a de-staining composition (14, 15), the substrate to be de-stained (18) and a de-staining solution (17). The de-staining composition can also be effective to remove any excess stain from a substrate, such that staining and de-staining can be carried out in a single operation in a single apparatus. |
