abstract | The invention features caspase-12 polypeptides that modulate apoptosis. The invention also features methods for identifying compounds useful in modulating apoptosis. One method inlcudes: (a) providing a cell having a caspase-12; (b) administering to the cell a candidate compound; and (c) monitoring a biological activity of caspase-12, wherein a change in the biological activity of caspase-12 in the cell relative to the activity in a control cell not administered the candidate compound identifies the candidate compound as a compound useful in modulating apoptosis. |
