A method for the disposal of a chlorine-containing organic compound comprising decomposing a chlorine-containing organic compound contained in a material to be treated and removing it from the material, wherein a fly ash (K) containing a chlorine-containing organic compound such as a dioxin is fed in the form of a slurry (S1) from a pretreating vessel (20) to a biological treating vessel (22) of a treating apparatus (2), and the slurry (S1) is mixed with nitrification bacteria (N), denitrifying bacteria (M), an aqueous ammonia (R) and methanol (S) supplied from a nitrification bacteria storing vessel (25), a nitrification bacteria storing vessel (35), an aqueous ammonia storing vessel (24) and a methanol storing vessel (34), respectively, to thereby effect a nitrification reaction by the nitrification bacteria (N) in an aerobic atmosphere and decompose the dioxin in association with the nitrification. |
