abstract A liquid dishwashing detergent composition having improved glassware protection when employed in conjunction with cleaning materials having high concentrations of alkaline materials. The composition contains a soluble organic zinc compound which preferably is zinc gluconate and is particularly suited to fast cycle commercial (I & I) dishwashers. The zinc gluconate is prepared in situ or zinc and gluconic ions are provided in a batching process.
