titleOfInvention Agents for relieving side effects
abstract Agents for relieving the side effects of antitumor agents which contain as the active ingredient 5-chloro-6-(2-iminopyrrolidin-1-yl)methyl-2,4(1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione represented by formula (1) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. 5-Chloro-6-(2-iminopyrrolidin-1-yl)methyl-2,4(1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione (1) and its salts have an advantage that they have an activity of inhibiting inflammation in the digestive tract induced by the administration of antitumor agents and thus can relieve diarrhea or body weight loss in association with the administration of chemotherapeutics for cancer without worsening the antitumor effect. Owing to these characteristics, they are highly useful in relieving the side effects, thereby enabling continuous chemotherapy for cancer and preventing physical exhaustion.
