The invention relates to a hydrogenating catalyst and a method for producing the same, whereby the catalyst can be used for hydrogenating nitro groups in nitro-aromatic compounds to the corresponding amines in the presence of water. The catalyst contains nickel on a support, is stabilised and has nickel crystallite with bimodal nickel crystallite size distribution, a nickel content of 60 to 80 percent by weight (in relation to the total mass of the catalyst) and a reduction rate of at least 70 % (after a reduction of one hour at a temperature of 100 DEG C). |
