The present invention relates to methods of administering water labile and/or water insoluble, pharmacologically active compounds to vertebrate animals comprising encapsulating the compound in liposomes and administering the liposomes in the drinking water of the animal. The pharmacologically active compound may be a parasiticide, such as ivermectin, an antibiotic, a nutrient, a growth control compound, or other compounds. Methods are also provided for stabilizing water-labile pharmacologically active compounds and for solubilizing water-insoluble pharmacologically active compounds. |
