abstract The invention relates to bacterial strains Bacillus pumilus B3 (CECT 5105) and Bacillus licheniformis B12 (CECT 5106) of the subtilis group, of the genus Bacillus, which produce phytohormones that regulate plant growth in the group of the gibberellins, in the presence of GA1, GA3, GA4 and GA20 in concentrations ranging between 0'0017 and 0'148 mg/L 24 hours after incubation in a liquid medium at a temperature of 28° C. Both strains have been isolated from a natural population of Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaetern in a nutritional agar (Difco) and have been characterized from a morphological, metabolic and genetic viewpoint. They can be used to enhance growth, vigor and resistance of both herbaceous and ligneous crop plants.
