A hydrocarbon sensor excellent in yield and high in detection accuracy, comprising a solid electrolytic layer (1) consisting of a barium-cerium oxide, a cathode (2) and an anode (3) as a pair of electrodes provided on the layer (1), a ceramic substrate (4) having a thermal expansion coefficient almost equivalent to that of the layer (1) and a heater (7) provided on the substrate (4), the layer (1) and the substrate (4) being joined together. |
