The rheology of aqueous slurries or dispersions of particles employed in such applications as cementitious, paint and water treatment compositions can be more concisely controlled in response to varying conditions of the application by forming an in situ complex of a first polymer X'mY'n, wherein X' is a particle-attaching group, and a second polymer Y''Z', wherein Z' is a particle-dispersing group, the groups Y' and Y'' being mutually non-covalently associative groups, such as hydrophobic moieties. |
