abstract | Featured is a rapid transfer autotransfusion device (100) and a system using such a device. Also featured are methods related to the collection and/or the re-infusion of collected blood to a patient. The autotransfusion device (100) includes an actuator handle assembly (140) having two arms, a top plate (110), a bottom plate (120) and a flexible container (130) secured to and between opposing surfaces of the top (110) and bottom (120) plates. The actuator handle rotates about the bottom plate projections between a first position and a second position. The actuator handle (140) further includes a follower member, having a first and second portion, and a displacing mechanism that is disposed in at least one actuator handle arm, more particularly, disposed in each actuator handle arm. The first portion of each follower member movably engages a portion of the top plate (110) as the actuator handle (140) moves between the first and second position. |
