Process for producing cationic polymer |
abstract |
A process for producing a cationic polymer effective in lowering cholesterol level, characterized by comprising the steps of: polymerizing a water-soluble monomer ingredient essentially comprising a cationic monomer by aqueous solution polymerization in such a manner that the reaction mixture has a viscosity not lower than 1,000 but lower than 300,000 cps at the time when the degree of polymerization reaches 90 %; continuing the polymerization until the degree of polymerization exceeds 95 %; subjecting the reaction mixture containing the water-soluble polymer obtained to ultrafiltration; subjecting the liquid obtained to vacuum condensation at a liquid temperature lower than 100° C; and drying the resultant residue under specific conditions. Thus, both of the safety of medical products and satisfactory production efficiency can be attained. |
