abstract The present invention refers to a method of chemical synthesis, for obtaining benznidazole, or N-benzyl-2- (2-nitro-1H-imidazol-1-yl) acetamide, and its industrial scaling. It is a simple method of easy and safe handling, which provides a high yield and high purity of the product. The method can be performed in the absence of solvent, as well as using water as solvent, with the possibility of reusing the mother liquor, in another synthesis procedure, when the process is carried out in an aqueous medium.
