titleOfInvention PREPARATION OF CLAVULANIC ACID WITH THE HELP OF CERTAIN POLYAMINES
abstract New process for preparing and / or purifying clavulanic acid, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester, comprising: contacting impure clavulanic acid, as an alkali metal salt (lithium or sodium) in an organic solvent, with a amine of formula (II) (figure 1), non-limiting, where R1 is represented in figure 2; and R2 and R3 are independently selected from hydrogen, alkyl, amino or hydroxy-substituted alkyl or amino-substituted alkyl; b- isolating the amine salt of the clavulanic acid that is formed; c- converting the salt thus formed into clavulanic acid or into a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof. Clavulanic acid is an enzyme inhibitor of beta lactamases.
