abstract An ophthalmic apparatus includes an image acquiring unit configured to acquire an eye fundus image of an eye to be examined, a candidate acquiring unit configured to acquire a plurality of candidate points for a photoreceptor cell in the eye fundus image based on brightness values of the eye fundus image, a first acquiring unit configured to acquire a first feature value of a first candidate point included in the plurality of candidate points based on a distance between the first candidate point and a second candidate point included in the plurality of candidate points, and a determining unit configured to determine whether the first candidate point is a point representing the photoreceptor cell or not based on the first feature value.
