abstract The present invention relates to lettuce plant that comprises leaves of substantially the same area from the inner to the outer leaves. The lettuce plant according to the invention comprises a trait that control the head formation and thus allows the lettuce not form a compact head and having leaves well separated and of substantially the same length and width. The lettuce plant can be advantageously used in the fresh cut industry for the manufacture of packaged salads.
