abstract The present invention relates to mutant microorganisms having a high ability to produce fermentation products, and methods for producing fermentation products using the same, and more particularly, to mutant microorganisms having a high ability to produce fermentation products such as lactic acid, succinic acid and ethanol, which has a deletion of genes selected from the genome of enteric bacteria and involved in respiration, electron transport, redox reactions and the like, and methods of producing fermentation products in high yield by culturing the mutant microorganisms under anaerobic conditions. The present invention provides mutant microorganisms, which have a deletion of genes involved in the redox pathways and regulation of microorganisms and having the property of producing a high concentration of lactic acid, succinic acid or ethanol with significantly reduced production of other fermentation products under anaerobic conditions, and a method of producing lactic acid, succinic acid or ethanol in high yield by culturing the mutant microorganisms.
