abstract A mooring chain stopping device including a locking housing with a channel inside which a mooring chain slides, and including a connection to a buoyant structure to direct the channel axis to the pulling axis of the chain, the housing having bolts inhibiting sliding of the chain in the channel and a device for measuring tension in the chain built into the locking housing. The measuring device includes a chamber including a defonnable shell, and filled with a liquid; a bearing part movably mounted in the locking housing, the bearing placed between the bolts and the chamber, and engaging the shell wall to pressurize the liquid, the bearing arranged so the forces exerted by said mooring chain on the bolts cause the movement of the bearing part and the pressurization of said chamber; and at least one pressure sensor to measure the pressure of the liquid.
