abstract A prism sheet having a function for preventing damage while assuring light collecting performance, and a liquid crystal display employing it. The prism sheet ( 6 ) has a first major surface on which light from a light source impinges, and a second major surface from which the incident light exits. A plurality of first prism rows ( 6 a ) having triangular cross-section are formed in parallel on the second major surface. A plurality of second prism rows ( 6 b ) having a round top and higher than the first prism rows ( 6 a ) are also provided on the second major surface.
