titleOfInvention Article formed from cross-linking isotactic polymers in the presence of peroxide
abstract An article of manufacture made of an isotactic polymer, a cross-linking agent, and an accelerator. The cross-linking agent includes a peroxide and a sulfur. The peroxide has an activity ranging from about 40% to about 100%. The ratio of the accelerator to the sulfur ranges from about 1:4 to about 1:10 depending on the activity, and the ratio of the accelerator to the peroxide ranges from about 1:4 to about 1:10 depending on the activity. The article is formed by mixing the polymer, the cross-linking agent, and the accelerator at high shear rates forming a blend. The blend is heated and sent through an extruder at a temperature less than 140 degrees Celsius for less than one minute. The blend is then inserted into a molding, wherein the formed article comprises a resilience value up to about 50 KJ/m2.
