abstract This invention relates to a low cost, wear inhibitor containing novel dithiocarbamates with alkylthio and hydroxy substituents that can be used to formulate low phosphorus lubricants. In addition to wear inhibition, the dithiocarbamate compositions of the invention provide substantial oxidation protection to lubricating oils and are not detrimental to fuel economy.
