abstract A packaging and applicator device of the type comprising an applicator having an application portion and a receptacle capable of being closed, the receptacle defining a first housing for the substance and a second housing which, in the closed position of the receptacle, receives the application portion of the applicator, the first and second housings communicating via an opening of cross-section that is substantially identical to that of the first housing, said opening enabling the application portion to be put into contact with the substance. The second housing defines a bearing surface around at least a portion of said opening so as to limit the pressure that can be exerted by the application portion on the substance when the receptacle is closed.
