abstract The present invention discloses a stent delivery catheter that reduces stent displacement during deployment. In particular, the stent delivery catheter provides expansion of a stent that originates initially from within the stent's center or medial region, that later proceeds outwardly toward the stent's ends. Medial expansion of a stent is disclosed using a multi-chambered expandable balloon or a wire member that radially expands when tubular members of the catheter shaft are longitudinally displaced.
