Preferably, the linear polymer comprises a poly(amidoamine). Preferably, the biologically active polyanionic molecule is a nucleic acid, more preferably a DNA. The compositions are useful for delivering nucleic acids to a cell in a cell transformation, transfection or gene therapy method.
