By controlling the rates of addition of certain reaction components and/or by controlling reaction solution temperatures at specific stages during synthesis, this invention provides a process for producing high purity cyclohexene dimethanol or cyclohexane dimethanol compounds without the need for solvent extraction and/or recrystallization procedures.
