Two anionic fluorescein based fluorescent stains are the water soluble tribasic salt of a mixture of the fluorescein isomers 5-carboxyfluorescein and 6-carboxyfluorescein, and the water soluble tetrabasic salt of 5,6 dicarboxyfluorescein.
