abstract An information storage system and lubricant comprising a fluoropolyether amide lubricant on the surface of a storage medium is provided. In general, the lubricant of the present invention is comprised of amide derivatives of fluoropolyethers having at least one hydroxyl group, preferably amide derivatives of polyalkylene glycol (PEG) and fluorinated polyalkylene glycols, and most preferably amide derivatives of per fluorinated polyethylene glycols (PF-PEG).
