The manufactured seeds comprise a unit of a totipotent plant tissue enclosed in a protective manufactured seed coat that includes an orifice sealed by a lid. The lid has a burst strength and architecture (e.g., a dome or nipple) similar to those of analogous structures in a natural botanic seed.
