abstract A dehydrogenation catalyst is produced by a process comprising the steps of: mixing an L-zeolite, chromium(VI) oxide, a binder, and an acid to form a mixture; and calcining the mixture at a temperature of about 200-800° C. A paraffin having 2-7 carbon atoms per molecule can be contacted with the above-described catalyst under dehydrogenation conditions to produce olefins having the same number of carbon atoms per molecule as the paraffin.
