abstract A color filter having a wide color reproducing range and provided with green pixels having a high permeability. The color filter is provided with green pixels containing a water soluble dye A having the x- and y-chromaticity characteristics in the CIE chromaticity diagram as described below and a water soluble dye B having the spectroscopic characteristics as described below: Water soluble dye A: x-chromaticity is 0.190 to 0.280 when the y-chromaticity is 0.520 in a phosphate buffer solution comprising 60 mM/liter of Na2HPO4.12H2O and 16 mM/liter of KH2PO4 at pH 7.5; and Water soluble dye B: Transmittance of light having a wavelength of 530 nm is 95% or more and transmittance of light having a wavelength of 450 nm is 50% or less in a phosphate buffer solution comprising 60 mM/liter of Na2HPO4.12H2O and 16 mM/liter of KH2PO4 at pH 7.5.
