abstract Water-repellent articles having an excellent water repellency, particularly water-repellent articles having a great contact angle with respect to waterdrop, an excellent waterdrop rollability, a high scuff resistance and a high weathering resistance, a method for producing the water-repellent articles, and a solution for forming a water-repellent film are dsiclosed. A novel method for producing water-repellent articles is provided, which comprises dissolving a chlorosilyl group-containing compound and a fluoroalkyl group-containing silane compound in a solvent containing an alcohol and/or water content to obtain a solution having the chloro group in said chlorosilyl group-containing compound substituted by an alkoxyl group or hydroxyl group, applying said solution to the surface of a substrate, and then drying the coated material to form a water-repellent film.
