abstract | The disclosure describes a photographic element comprising a light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a magenta dye forming coupler containing an azole nucleus and a ballasted compound having Formula I, wherein each R1 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and an alkyl, aryl, acyl and acylamino group; L represents a linking atom or group bonded to the phenyl ring by a heteroatom; each "a" independently represents a substituent group at least one of which is linked to the phenyl ring by an N, S, C or O atom and q is 1 to 5; provided that the selection of L and the "a" groups results in no more than one oxygen bond to the phenyl ring. |
