abstract An aircraft flight deck includes a primary flight display device and a combined autopilot/autothrottle controller. The controller is mounted on the flight panel below the windshield in a vertical line with the primary flight display. A thumb-activated multiaxis control switch is mounted on the control yoke and operates exclusively to adjust a preselected trajectory commanded to the autopilot when moved leftfright or fore/aft. Depressing the switch in a vertical axis in a position generates an ENABLE signal to activate the commanded preselected trajectory.
