The capillary has its inner surface chemically modified for the generation of properties different from those of the original plastic capillary material. In the process of producing such capillaries, a premanufactured capillary is treated with a chemical reagent which generates functional groups directly on the capillary surface or generates attachment sites, on the capillary surface to which functional groups are later bonded.
