abstract An biologically compatible coating, enables an apparatus to which it is applied to resist to cell adhesion and/or protein adsorption. The coating comprises a polyacrylamide network grafted to a surface of the apparatus at polymerization sites on that surface and a poly(ethylene glycol) network interpenetrating the polyacrylamide network, and is prepared by sequentially polymerizing the polyacrylamide and poly(ethylene glycol) layers.
