Compounds of formula I n n C.sub.n F.sub.2n+1 --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --Si(R.sup.1 R.sup.2 R.sup.3)(I) n n in which n R 1 is alkoxy having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or is n C n F 2n+1 --(CH 2 ) m --Si(R 2 R 3 )--O--, n R 2 and R 3 are alkyl or alkoxy having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, n n is 1 to 12; and n m is 1 to 6, n are applied to the substrates by thermal vapor coating in a high vacuum.
