A golf ball comprising a cover and core, wherein the core is formed from a blend comprising an oxa acid compound having the formula: <IMAGE> (Formula I) wherein R is an organic moiety selected from the group consisting of alkyl, carbocyclic, and heterocyclic groups. Golf balls employing the present core blends exhibit a decreased compression without an adverse impact on the initial velocity of the ball. |
