The method comprises the steps of contacting an alkali metal salt of an ester of 3-amino-4,4,4-trifluoro-2-butenoic acid with a methyl benzylcarbamate I to provide a benzyluracil II. <IMAGE> I <IMAGE> II where R, W, V, X and Y are as described in the specification. |
