abstract Rinse-added fabric softening compositions are provided comprising mixtures of a substituted imidazoline fabric softener material and a highly ethoxylated hydrophobic material as a scum dispersant to prevent the formation of scum by interaction of the substituted imidazoline fabric softener material with anionic detergent surfactant and/or phosphate detergency builder entrapped in the fabric, and a liquid carrier. These, preferably biodegradable, compositions have good product stability, dispersibility, and concentratability, as well as excellent fabric softening characteristics.
