abstract Polyisoolefins are obtained using the process according to the invention by polymerising isoolefins, optionally with conjugated or unconjugated dienes and/or cationically polymerisable, mono- or polyunsaturated compounds at temperatures of -100 DEG C. to +100 DEG C. and pressures of 0.1 to 100 bar in solution, in suspension or in the gas phase in the presence of initiator systems consisting of certain hydrocarbons and open-chain and/or cyclic aluminoxane compounds.
