abstract |
An improvement is produced in prior art processes for the continuous production of emulsions; the processes include the step of continuously combining volumetrically determined amounts of the hydrophobic phase and the hydrophilic phase in mixing apparatus in a volume ratio of about 45 to 95 percent hydrophobic phase to about 5 to 55 percent hydrophilic phase wherein the particle size of the emulsion is controlled by adjusting the volume ratio within the aforesaid ranges; the process is particularly useful as the emulsification step of a process for forming microcapsules. |
