Date Aug. 5, 1993.The invention is an aqueous autodeposition coating composition that produces a film that has a better adherence and corrosion resistance than the films formed by the prior-art coating compositions, but which does so without a rinse treatment (for example, a chromium containing solution, rinse) prior to film curing. The aqueous autodeposition coating composition has a pH of 1.6 to 5.0 and contains (i) water-dispersible or water-soluble organic film-forming resin, (ii) at least one of fluoride ions or fluoride ions and complex fluoride ions, (iii) hexavalent chromium ion or hexavalent chromium ion+trivalent chromium ion, and (iv) tungstate ion and/or molybdate ion. |
