A photographic element comprising a support having provided thereon a light-sensitive layer and a transparent magnetic recording layer, the magnetic recording layer comprising a transparent polymeric binder, ferro-magnetic particles and abrasive particles, the magnetic particles having a surface area greater than 30 m2/gm and a coverage of from about 1x10-11 mg/ mu m3 to about 1x10-10 mg/ mu m3, the abrasive particles having a median diameter of from about 0.2 to about 0.4 mu m, specific surface area greater than 5 m2/gm, a Mohs hardness of at least 6 and being present in the transparent magnetic layer in an amount of at least about 30% by weight based on the weight of the magnetic particles present. |
