titleOfInvention | Process for producing hydroxygallium phthalocyanine |
abstract | A halogen-containing hydroxygallium phthalocyanine crystal showing intense diffraction peaks at Bragg angles (2 theta DEG +/-0.2 DEG ) of (1) 7.7 DEG , 16.5 DEG , 25.1 DEG and 26.6 DEG ; (2) 7.9 DEG , 16.5 DEG , 24.4 DEG , and 27.6 DEG ; (3) 7.0 DEG , 7.5 DEG , 10.5 DEG , 11.7 DEG , 12.7 DEG , 17.3 DEG , 18.1 DEG , 24.5 DEG , 26.2 DEG , and 27.1 DEG ; 4) 7.5 DEG , 9.9 DEG , 12.5 DEG , 16.3 DEG , 18.6 DEG , 25.1 DEG , and 28.3 DEG ; or (5) 6.8 DEG , 12.8 DEG , 15.8 DEG , and 26.0 DEG and an electrophotographic photoreceptor containing the halogen-containing hydroxygallium phthalocyanine crystal as a charge generating material are disclosed. Hydroxygallium phthalocyanine crystals are produced by reacting a gallium trihalide with phthalonitrile or diiminoisoindoline in a halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, treating the resulting halogenated gallium phthalocyanine with an amide solvent, and hydrolyzing the halogenated gallium phthalocyanine. The photoreceptor exhibits stabilized electrophotographic characteristics. |
