abstract A golf ball retriever comprises a cylindrical receiver with an inner surface of a diameter slightly larger than a standard golf ball, triangular protrusions or ribs extending upwardly and out from the inner surface at an angle of 5 to 11 degrees, connection tabs, and a stop; a retainer that is substantially V-shaped, with its arms extending over the cylinder; and a telescoping rod with at least two pieces of hollow tubing having different diameters and connected with a tapered shim, a plug, and a cap with a glue reservoir. The receiver rotatably mounts to the retainer, which in turn mounts to the telescoping rod. The telescoping rod is formed by plugging one end of a piece of hollow tubing, wrapping the tapered shim around the tubing, inserting the plugged tubing and shim into a larger piece of hollow tubing, placing a cap over the intersection of the two pieces of tubing, and gluing the cap to the larger piece of hollow tubing.
