abstract This invention provides a free-flowing alkali metal bicarbonate composition, which has a content of an acidic inorganic compound such as boron oxide (B 2 O 3 ) or phosphorus pentoxide (P 2 O 5 ). The acidic inorganic compound reacts with the residual hygroscopic alkali metal carbonate content of the bulk alkali metal bicarbonate powder to form alkali metal bicarbonate.
